37 percent – this is how much more we will pay for health in 2026 to ZUS

2025-12-29 HaiPress

There is no solution to this, except liquidation of the business. In 2026,costs will increase by 37 percent due to health insurance contributions to ZUS. The New Deal is still in effect.

In 2025,the health insurance contribution is calculated from a reduced base of 75%. minimum wage.

MEPs agreed to reform the system, which was to bring even greater relief in paying contributions for most entrepreneurs in 2026,regardless of income. However,then-President Andrzej Duda vetoed the proposed changes in May 2025. From 2026,entrepreneurs will strongly feel the weight of the presidential veto.

Entrepreneurs will pay PLN 1,411 more per year for health in 2026

In 2026,entrepreneurs will return to the principles of the Polish Order introduced by Mateusz Morawiecki’s government in 2022,where the burdens were more severe and depended on the full amount of the minimum wage.

The basis for calculating the health insurance contribution in 2026 will be the full minimum wage, which will increase by 3%. up to PLN 4,806 gross. Calculations by Grant Thornton show that entrepreneurs will pay an additional PLN 117.59 per month, which is PLN 1,411 higher per year. This means an increase in the costs incurred by entrepreneurs who settle according to the tax scale or flat tax by over 37 percent compared to 2025.

Who didn’t want the health insurance premium to be reduced and why?

Entrepreneurs with higher incomes will pay contributions based on their actual income in 2026,which does not mean a change in costs for them. For entrepreneurs who settle on a lump sum basis, health insurance contribution rates will also remain unchanged, depending on the level of revenue.

The reduction in health insurance premiums for entrepreneurs was passed by the Sejm in April 2025 with the votes of KO,Polski 2050-TD and PSL-TD. The following MPs were against: PiS,Left and Razem. The Confederation abstained from voting. They appealed to President Andrzej Duda to veto the regulations, among others. the Left’s candidate for president Magdalena Biejat, the candidate of the Razem Party Adam Zandberg, the OZZL Residents’ Agreement and the Supreme Medical Chamber, arguing that reducing the premium will worsen the situation of patients and deepen the health care crisis.
